The Beaudoin Legacy has changed its name from The Beaudoin Project, leaving the latter name to define the overall work they are doing with the Vermont Folklife Center and the Vermont Council on the Arts to "document, preserve and present the music of Vermont's Beaudoin family."
The band is now The Beaudoin Legacy, consisting of Louis Beaudoin's widow, Julie, her two daughters, Carmen Bombardier and Nina Beaudoin, and Carmen's three children, Glenn Bombardier, Elena Alexander and Nicolle Charbonneau. Joining them are project founders and French fiddlers George Wilson and Donna Hébert, themselves apprenticed to the Beaudoins in the '70s and '80s, along with fiddler and singer Daniel Boucher, guitarist Liza Constable (also a member of Chanterelle with Donna) and pianist Selma Kaplan.
Just appointed to the National Endowment for the Arts' American Masterpiece Roster by the Vermont Arts Council, Beaudoin Legacy performances for Vermont nonprofits can be subsidized 50 percent. For a grant application to work with The Beaudoin Legacy, please contact the Vermont Arts Council.
April 26 Donna Hébert teaches a workshop on 'The Fiddling of Louis Beaudoin' in Burlington VT. More information is available on her March 2008 Newsletter page.
